BLOG N° 5 How can your major make the world a better place

 I think that the career of chemistry and pharmacy, or in other countries known as chemistry and pharmacobiology, affects and has affected humanity since time immemorial, since it is responsible for the existence and development of medicines (although of course, about 200 years ago ago it was not a university career as such). In any case, thanks to this specialty; humanity has been able to combat different diseases thanks to the development of drugs and medicines, for example terrible diseasesand painful (both for the patient and for his family) such as dementia or Alzheimer's, as well as chemotherapy drugs to combat different types of cancer. I see myself as a great professional, working as a professor at a university, since my passion, apart from music, is teaching. Blog N°5 choice of two topics

 I took this photo, particularly one day when I was visiting my house in Angol. At first it didn't mean much to me, but writing this blog I realize the opposite. To say what it means to me I must tell why I was interested in uploading this photo in the first place. I chose this image because it is one of the best I have taken, in the sense of how lucky I was to take it since those two horses were walking and I took it by chance. The time I took this photo was hard for me, mainly because of the academic load I have in the career I study. I remember that it was my "recess week" (a week to rest according to my university, but in reality it was to prepare all the exams that were coming the following week). blog N°3: My favourite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is the computer, repeated as it may seem.  As is well known, the computer is one of the most important pieces of technology and therefore one of the most changed and innovated; it is only a matter of thinking about a computer from the 50's with one from the 80's and well . . . what can we say about a current computer, whether it is one of the cheapest models or the most advanced. . of those used in NASA. I will focus on today's ordinary computer. With it you can perform from the most basic task such as simple or complex mathematical operations (in fact, the first computers were created for that) as well as write, write documents, prepare support material for exhibitions and play video games or use software for different tasks.  There are really too many things you can do on a computer.  Personally, I use it to play guitar. choice of two topics: Chemdraw

 Hello everyone! Today I am going to talk to you about one of the websites that has given me the most help in my career. It is the program (although it is also in an online version) called "Chemdraw", which is a powerful tool for analyzing organic molecules, therefore it has been very helpful for my organic chemistry courses; which are three. I usually use this tool quite often, at least every day, since I'm taking the subject "heterocycle chemistry and spectroscopic analysis" (also called organic chemistry lll). What I like most about Chemdraw is its wide range of options: ranging from the simplest ones such as finding the name of an organic molecule, as well as being able to provide all its properties and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic graphics (which provide information on the structure of a molecule). I also like how easy and comfortable it is to use. Anyway, I recommend this site for those students of chemistry or any career that involves chemistr...

Why did I choose my major (study program)?

 Since I was a child I wanted to be a musician and have a band. I didn't care about any particular career, like being an architect, or a lawyer, or a teacher, you know. . . typical university careers. As I got older, I understood (sadly)  that in this country I wouldn't make money from music, for example to support a family.  When I was in my third year of high school, I knew that I wanted to be a doctor, I really like helping people and well. . . I liked how the doctors looked in their clinical uniform apparently so comfortable and with the gown on top, I thought and still think it looks too cool. So, I started getting better grades (I really got top marks) and studying more, medical career became my obsession. However, I should have worried a long time before about my grades, since to enter that race you need the best grades. Who am I?

 Hi, how’s everything? My name is  Sebastián Rivas, I’m 22 years old and I’m chemistry and pharma student in the University of Chile, in Santiago city, Chile. I was born in the southern of this country  in Angol town, a very quiet place and with a lot of animals and old houses.   I did my elementary and high school studies at the San Francisco de Asís school, a Catholic school run by nuns. I finished my high school studies in 2017 and in 2018 my parents allowed me to have a gap year in order to prepare me to enter university, ideally to study medicine. However, fate wanted another career for me, and here I am and I love my career. Oh . . . how time flies right? My parents are teachers, I have 2 brothers and I am the oldest of the 3. I hope to be a great example for them. What about my hobbies? Well, I love music, especially heavy metal and classical music (my favorite composer is Johan Sebastian Bach).
